Taggart Leads Heptathlon After Day One, Perlino Set New School Record

Emma Taggart (New Windsor, MD) leads the heptathlon after day one while Dylan Perlino (Holland) set a new Alfred State record in the hammer throw as the Pioneers competed in the All-Atlantic Region Championship at St. John Fisher.

Taggart leads the field of 10 athletes in the heptathlon with 2,728 points. She scored 797 in the 100 hurdles (15.34), 724 points in the high jump (1.59 m), 681 points in the 200 m (27.37), and 526 points in the shot put (9.94). She leads the field by 15 points.

Marina Miketish (Olean) sits in 4th place in the heptathlon. She scored 680 points in the 100 hurdles (16.28), she scored  655 points in the high jump (1.53 m), 651 points in the 200 m (27.74), and 414 points in the shot put (8.23).

Perlino set a new school record in the hammer throw. His throw of 49.16 m earned him 7th overall. He broke the previous record of 48.93 held by Paul Kemsley.

The 4x400 relay team of Corey Seymour (Dryden), Brian Clark (Bethpage), Shawn Rosa (Middletown), and Cameron Chambers (East Rochester) finished in 9th in 3:29.81.

Day two of the Regionals start tomorrow at 11 a.m.
