The Alfred State Pioneers were on the road against Mount Aloysius to face off in a double header against the conference opponent. The Pioneers lost both games, 8-0 and 15-2.
Game 1:
Both teams seemed to start off slow with the first inning being scoreless. In the bottom of the second inning Mt. Aloysius scored two runs. This seemed to be the theme for the day with the Mounties scoring 1 or more runs in every inning. The Pioneers never seemed to get the bats going at once. Although Alfred State struggled to put runs on the board, Audrey Farrell (Linwood), Nicole Youngberg ( Falconer, NY ) and Kailey Wonica (Staten Island, NY) all had two hits a piece with the Pioneers notching 10 hits total. The Pioneers also had help from Audrey Farrell, as the starter notched 4 total strikeouts in the game.
Game 2:
Alfred State was able to get on the board this game with an Abby Beidel (Newville, PA) single up the middle with the bases loaded.The base hit scored Lauryn Engle (Elba, NY). Kailey Wonica (Staten Island, NY) scored on a passed ball putting the Pioneers within 1 run in a 3-2 game. The Mounties soom took control of the game ending the score 15-2.
The Alfred State Pioneers continue to play on Tuesday, April 25th as they face conference opponent, 0-8 Hilbert with game 1 set to start at 3:00pm and game 2 at 5:00pm.
