Turnovers Prove Costly to Lady Pioneers

The Alfred State women's basketball team was plagued by 35 turnovers as they fell 59-47 to Erie CC in a battle of the top two teams in Region III Division II.  The Lady Pioneers are now 12-7, 4-2 RIII DII while the Lady Kats are 15-4, 6-0.

Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) recorded another double-double with 19 points and 14 boards.  She also chipped in six blocks and three steals.  Jennifer Fedrick (Buffalo/Bennett) added eight points and Briana Meehan (Whitesville) finished with seven.

Alexis Gray led ECC with 20 points and 10 baords while Charmaine Weaver chipped in eight points.

Erie shot 34.8% from the field for the game while the Alfred shot just 28.6%.  The Kats held a 28-23 lead at the half.

Alfred heads to Roberts Wesleyan on Thursday for a 7 p.m. tilt with the JV Redhawks.
