Day Two Results of Whitehill Duals

The Alfred State wrestling team continued action at the Budd Whitehill Duals on Saturday. The Pioneers fell 33-18 to Oswego and 33-12 to Coast Guard.

Oswego State 33 Alfred State 18

The Pioneers could not recover from a slow start vs. the Lakers. Oswego jumped out to a 23-0 lead after four matches before the Pioneers won four of the final six matches.

Kevin Thayer (Otego/Unatego) earned a 13-7 victory over Kyle Vershay at 157, Josh Lord (Owego Free) won 11-4 over Sean Maloney at 174, Matthew Sowers (Whitesboro) earned his 3rd pin of the tournament at 197 when he defeated Joseph Gorsuch in 3:21, and Alex Ortiz (Middletown) pinned Branden Jones in 2:27 in the heavyweight bout.

In the final match of the tournament, the Coast Guard earned three straight victories to break a 6-6 tie. Jason Charlette (Midlakes) earned a forfeit win at 133, Konnor Kremer (Horseheads) earned a 6-0 win over Benjamin Greene at 165, and Conner Fox (Midlakes) won 9-3 over Cory Geyer at 184.
