Thierman, Haggerty, and Lauretti Earn Wins vs. Niagara CCC
Ryan Thierman (Portville), Brad Haggerty (Wellsville), and John Lauretti (Seaford) earned victories as Alfred State opened up the home portion of their season vs. Niagara CCC on Tuesday. The Thunderwolves earned the 33-15 victory in a match featuring the two long-time rivals.
After NCCC took the first match of the night, Thierman got the Pioneers on the board with a pin of Josh Griswood in 1:24 at 125 lbs. The Thunderwolves went on to earn victories in the next six matches to build a 33-6 lead.
At 184, Haggerty used a late rally to force overtime and then earned the 11-9 victory with a quick move in the opening seconds of extra time. Lauretti followed up Haggerty's performance with a pin of Anthony Liberatore in 1:18 in the 197 lb. match.
The Pioneers head to the Christmas break and will return to action on January 9th when the compete in the Brockport Invitational.
