Lady Pioneers Slow Down Express

The Alfred State women's soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a 3-0 victory over Wells College on Sunday afternoon.  The Lady Pioneers are now 11-4-1 on the year heading into next week's USCAA National Championship Tournament.

Keri Tuefel (Sachem) got the blue & gold on the board when she fired home a blocked pass 32:40 into the contest.  Hunter Pierce (Livonia) made it 2-0 just under ten minutes later when she found the back of the net when she picked up her own rebound.

Hannah Holmok (Alfred Almond) added an insurance goal in the 2nd half (56:31) when she fired a shot off the left post and in.  Jessa Rodrigues (Jasper Troupsburg) was credited with the assist.

Krista DeCarlo (West Islip) made four saves in the first 79 minutes of the game while Spela Sluga (William Floyd) played the final 11 minutes to perserve the shutout.

Alfred State held a 44 to 8 shot advantage (19 to 4 shots on goal) in the contest.

The Lady Pioneers will next travel to Charlestown, WV to participate in the USCAA National Championships.  Alfred State, the #5 seed, take on #4 SUNY ESF at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday (10/31).
