Pioneer Athletes Of The Week
Alfred, NY- This week's Pioneer Athletes of the Week are Men's Wrestling Nick Barrett and Women's Basketball Taylor Benjamin.
Nick Barrett was one of seven individuals that won an AMCC title on saturday as he won the 285 title. Barrett's day started with a 1:20 fall over Edward Powers. Then, he tallied a 3-1 decision win over Nicholai Brotzman of Penn College for a spot in the finals. In the first-place match, Barrett notched a 6-1 decision win over Gavin Thompson of Pitt Bradford to claim the 285 title
Taylor Benjamin led the Pioneers this week as she averaged 18.5 ppg, 9.5 rpg, and 4.5 spg. She opened the week with a 26 point outing against Pitt Bradford. In that game, she also grabbed 10 rebounds, eight assists, and six steals while shooting 68.8 percent from the field. Benjamin followed with an 11 point and nine rebound game against Mt. Aloysius.
