Husson Stifles Pioneers Offense

Husson Stifles Pioneers Offense

Husson University (Bangor, ME) held the Alfred State football team to just 141 yards of offense en route to a 13-0 victory on Saturday afternoon.  The Eagles improved to 1-2 on the season while the Pioneers are 0-3.

Neither team mustered much offense in the contest.  The Eagles put the only points of the 1st half on the board with 8:57 remaining in the 2nd quarter when Kyle McKinnon ran in from 24-yards out.  This capped a five-play 45-yard drive.

The Pioneers looked to tie the game early in the 4th quarter when they drove the ball all the way to the Husson three yard line.  The drive stalled and the Eagles held on 4th down to maintain the shutout.

Husson took advantage of a Pioneer turnover a few minutes later and made it a two possession game when Ryan Stroud scampered in from nine yards out to make it 13-0.

Rasheed Williams (Swedesboro, NJ) was the bright spot for the offense rushing for 115 yards on 23 carries.

McKinnon led Husson with 75 yards rushing on 15 carries while Ryan Dorso rushed for 61 yards on 21 carries.

Rory Spain (Tully) led the Pioneers defense with 11 tackles and a fumble recovery while John Garbowski (Lakeland) finished with nine tackles, a sack, and an interception.  Keegan Phalen (East Aurora) chipped in nine tackles, a fumble recovery, and punted seven times including a long of 60 yards.

Stephan Dance finished with 12 tackles to lead the Eagles while Ernest Wiggins registered eight tackles and 1.5 sacks.

The Pioneers were 2 of 16 on 3rd down conversions, 0 for 5 on 4th down, and were sacked six times on the day.
