Wesley Downs Alfred State in Finale

#15 Wesley College put together two scoring drives in each quarter and defeated Alfred State 47-0 in both team's regular season finale.  The Wolverines improve to 8-2 on the year while the Pioneers close the year 4-6.

Wesley's offense used a balanced offensive attack and a solid defensive effort to earn the victory that kept their NCAA DIII tournament hopes alive.  The Wolverines racked up 487 total yards and held the Pioneers to just 158 yards.

James Baynard led the offense with 123 yards and a touchdown on 13 rushing attempts while Joe Callahan was 8 for 16 for 160 yards and two scores.  Sosthene Kapepula led Wesley's defense with 10 tackles.

Rasheed Williams (Swedesboro, NJ) was the workhorse for the Pioneers offense.  He rushed for 119 yards on 35 carries.  In total he accounted for 128 of the Pioneers 158 yards of offense.

With his fourth 100-yard rushing performance, Williams eclipsed the 1,000 yard plateau on the year.  He finishes the season with 1,017 yards rushing on 197 carries (10 touchdowns).

Rory Spain (Tully) led the defense with 11 tackles while John Garbowski (Mohegan Lake) and Nick DePofi (Union Endicott) each finished with 10.  Bryan Sampson (Rochester/Edison) chipped in six tackles and a fumble recovery.

The contest marked the end of the Pioneers first season as a member of NCAA DIII.  The season saw the Pioneers travel 5,338 miles and play games in seven different states.

The blue & gold are slated to start the 2014 season at Morrisville State on September 6th.
