RIT Defeats Pioneers

Jameel Balenton scored a game high 21 points off the bench for RIT as they defeated Alfred State 87-66 in a 1st round contest at the Harold Brodie Tournament.  The host improve to 3-0 on the year and will take on Baptist Bible College in the finals tomorrow.

Alfred State trailed 28-27 with 7:46 remaining in the 1st half before the Tigers went on a 13-0 run in the next 2:42 to take control of the contest.

Tavon Moore (Syracuse/Bishop Grimes) led the Pioneers with 20 points and seven rebounds. Adam Fezza (Southhampton) added 12 points and Tommy Hutson (Brooklyn/Susan McKinney) finished with 11.

JP Regan added 20 points for the Tigers who shot 45.6% from the field and connected on 12 three-pointers.

Alfred State shot 62.5% in the 1st half but just 28.6% in the 2nd.

The Pioneers will take on Keuka on Saturday in the consolation game at 1 p.m.  Keuka fell 87-76 to BBC in the other 1st round contest.  Alfred and Keuka played earlier this week with the Storm coming out on top.
