Pioneers Can't Recover from Slow Start

SUNY Canton scored the first ten points of the contest and the Alfred State men's basketball team could never recover as the Kangaroos went on to a 86-49 victory to improve to 6-13 on the year.

After the slow start the Pioneers rallied to make it 26-20 with just under nine minutes remaining in the 1st half before the Roos ended the half on a 24-7 run to take full control of the contest.  Canton led by as many as 41 in the 2nd half.

Romario Fletcher led Canton with 15 while Kam Peterkin finished with 13.  Scott Bartenstein chipped in 11.  The Kangaroos shot 43.5% from beyond the three-point arc.

Tavon Moore (Syracuse/Bishop Grimes) finished with 11 points while Adam Fezza (Southhampton) added eight.  Marley Cherwin-Zangwill (New York/Global Learning) came off the bench and had six.

The blue & gold will look to rebound next Saturday when they travel to Central Penn College for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
