Big 2nd Half Leads Cazenovia Past Pioneers

Cazenovia scored nine unanswered goals in the final 26 minutes to erase a 11-7 deficit en route to a 16-11 victory over Alfred State on Wednesday afternoon. 

The 1st half of the game featured back and forth play. The game was knotted at 4-4 after the 1st quarter and the Pioneers held a 8-7 lead at halftime. Alfred State scored the first three goals of the 3rd quarter to grab a 11-7 lead but the Wildcats turned things around.

In the final 10:50 of the 3rd quarter the Wildcats scored five goals to grab a 12-11 lead. They continued their roll in the 4th by scoring the only four goals. Cazenovia outshot the Pioneers 23-15 in the 2nd half.

Aaron Buck (Churchville Chili) led the blue & gold with five goals and two assists. Clifford Brooks (Salamanca) chipped in a goal and three assists, Teddy Alvarado (Hilton) and Dominic Arresta (Southhampton) each had two goals and an assist, and Nathan Serio (Silver Creek) netted a goal.

Joe Delia led the Wildcats with two goals and nine assists while Brandon Maxson recorded four goals and an assist. Cazenovia had six players find the back of the net in the contest.

Alex Delavan made 12 saves in the contest to earn the victory in net while Ryan Amidon (Fayetteville Manlius) made 11 for the Pioneers.

The blue & gold are back in action on Sunday when they host Baldwin Wallace at 1 p.m.
