Pioneers Battle Manhattanville

The Alfred State lacrosse team led 3-2 after one quarter but a slow 2nd quarter cost the Pioneers as Manhattanville led the Valiants to a 13-7 victory. Manhattanville outscored the blue & gold 5-0 in the 2nd.

Jack Polak led Manhattanville with four goals and two assists while Andrew Murray finished with four goals and an assist. Murray scored three of his four goals in the decisive 2nd quarter while Polak netted the other two.

Teddy Alvarado (Hilton) led the Pioneers with four goals while Patrick Matkoski (West Genesee) finished with two goals and an assist. Aaron Buck (Churchville Chili) passed out three assists, Dominic Arresta (Southhampton) netted a goal, and Ryan Amidon (Fayetteville Manlius) made 15 saves in net.

Manhattanville (4-5) held a 41 to 24 shot advantage in the contest but the Pioneers won 13 of the 22 faceoffs in the contest.

The Pioneers are return home on Saturday when they host SUNY Canton at 1 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium.
