Pioneer Goal Featured by Fox Sports

For the second time in the fall season an Alfred State athletic video has hit the national spotlight. The men's soccer opening goal of the season has garnered the attention of Fox Sports.

Alfred State opened up the season on Friday vs. St. Vincent at the Frostburg (MD) Tournament. St. Vincent scored the first goal of the game but their lead lasted only five seconds. When play resumed Albert Senyah Breezy (Central Islip) touched the ball to Tyler Landries (Genesee Valley). Landries then fired a shot from just inside the midfield stripe (approximately 57 yards) that beat the keeper and found the back of the net.

Landries and the Pioneers went on to a 3-2 victory over St. Vincent. The team is 1-1 on the season and will be in action again on Saturday when they battle Bethany (WV) in day one of the Bethany Tournament.

Earlier this fall a diving one-handed catch by Ricky Hagins in a preseason football practice went viral.
