Offense Explodes in Victory over Canton

The Alfred State men's soccer team recorded their best offensive effort of the season in a 6-1 victory over SUNY Canton on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers have now won two of their last three and are 3-4 on the season.

Albert Senyah Breezy (Long Island/Central Islip) got the blue & gold on the board nine minutes in when found the back of the net after getting a pass from Tyler Landries (Genesee Valley). Nick Donner (Lancaster) was credited with the secondary assist.

1:51 later, Brandon Holley (Livonia) scored his first of three on the day when he toe poked a shot in the back of the net after getting a pretty crossing pass from Markus Ernest (Alfred Almond). Holley scored on a long shot just under 18 minutes later to make it 3-0 after getting a pass from Kory Zimmer (Livonia).

The Kangaroos (0-8-1) got on the board in the 44th minute when Demba Ba headed in a corner kick by Marc Ramirez. Jake Vattimo (Geneseo) answered right back 40 seconds later with his own goal on a header following a corner kick by Takara Higashi (Tokyo, Japan).

Senyah Breezy scored on a penalty kick in the 54th minute and Holley capped his hat trick with a goal in the 67th minute. Senyah Breezy picked up the assist. Holley now has a team high six goals on the season.

The Pioneers outshot Canton 14 to 9 on the day. Jacob Bartz (West Seneca) made three saves in the first 72:22 while Christopher Johannesson (Long Beach) made three in the final 17:38. 

The Pioneers have a week off before hosting Bryant & Stratton next Saturday evening at 7 p.m.
