Brandon Holley (Livonia) scored the lone goal as Alfred State fell 4-1 to Bethany (WV) in day one action of the Bethany Tournament. Alfred State is now 1-2 on the year while Bethany is 1-2-1.
Jose Arzate got Bethany on the board 10:47 into the game before Holley tied it up just under two minutes later. Bethany retook the lead at the 31:52 mark of the 1st half on a goal by Jack Waters.
Just 2:10 in the 2nd half, Kai Whitney scored to up the Bisons lead to 3-1. Adam Franco aded an insurance goal in the 85th minute.
Bethany held a 16-11 shot advantage in the contest. Caullum Appleby made six saves for the Bison while Jacob Bartz (West Seneca East) made eight.
The Pioneers take on Franciscan (OH) tomorrow in day two action of the Bethany Tournament. The contest is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
