The Alfred State men's soccer team had numerous chances but couldn't capitalize in a 3-0 loss to SUNY ESF as Homecoming 2016 wrapped up.
Joe Marino and Jorge Guarin scored in the 1st half to give the Mighty Oaks the lead. The Pioneers pushed to get back in the game but could not get one past Matt Hoppe who finished with five saves on the night. Geog Golick added an insurance goal in the 79th minute to put the game out of reach.
ESF (8-3-1) out shot the Pioneers 16 to 11 in the contest.
The Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Houghton to battle the Highlanders at 5:30 p.m.
