Pioneers Fall 3-1 in Spirited Battle

Brandon  Holley (Livonia) scored the lone goal as Alfred State fell 3-1 in a spirted battle to Bryant & Stratton on Saturday evening. Bryant and Stratton, ranked #3 in the USCAA, improves to 6-1 on the year.

Zino Zampach scored on a penalty kick in the 15th minute and scored again in the 37th minute to give Bryant & Stratton a 2-0 lead after the 1st half.

Matthieu LeRoux scored just over nine minutes into the 2nd half to add to lead before Holley got the Pioneers on the board when he scored his seventh of the season after getting a pass from Cooper Weinman (Genesee Valley).

After being outshot 14 to 2 in the 1st half, the Pioneers put the pressure on the Bobcats in the 2nd outshooting their opponent 10 to 9. Christopher Johannesson (Long Beach) made eight saves in net for the Pioneers in 75:32 of play. Harry Watson (1) and Refik Begic (4) combined for five saves for Bryant & Stratton.

The game featured 26 fouls, six yellow cards, and two red cards.

The Pioneers continue their homestand on Wednesday when they host St. John Fisher at 7 p.m.
