Dominant Victory for Lady Pioneers

The Alfred State women's soccer team dominated from the start as they defeated Villa Maria 12-0 on Saturday afternoon. Nine different Lady Pioneers scored and eleven players recorded points in the victory that improved the team to 6-5 on the year.

The Lady Pioneers scored six goals in each half as they outshot the Vikings 45 to 0 in the contest.

Kylie Newman (Waverly) netted the first two goals while Brooke Geibel (Arkport), Darien Hooker (Canisteo Greenwood), Melissa Mineti (Livonia), and Nittayaporn Saoro (Victor) all scored once in the 1st half.

Dannielle O'Buckley (Queens/Ansbach), Stormi Kruger (Medina), Mineti, Leigh Swartzfager (Keshequa), Geibel, and Chloe Cox (Tuscon, AZ) all scored in the 2nd half.

The goals by Saoro and Swartzfager were their first as Lady Pioneers.

Geibel finished with two goals and an assist, Cox had a goal and two assists, and Julia Yanarella (Wappinger Falls/Roy Ketcham) passed out two assists. Jessica Rowe (Jasper Troupsburg) also picked up an assist.

Allison Danielak (Brockport) and Kylie DeWilde (Midlakes) combined in net for the shutout. Nina Cray made 15 saves for the Vikings.

The blue & gold have a few days off before hosting SUNY ESF next Saturday in a big USCAA match-up. The contest is slated for a 5 p.m. start is part of Homecoming 2016 festivities.
