Pioneers Season Comes to End at NCAA Tournament

The Pioneers dropped today's postseason match to the Ithaca Bombers 3-0. The Alfred State Women's Volleyball team played in an NCAA regional match for not only the first time in program history, but for the first time in Alfred State Athletics history. After claiming the AMCC Conference crown and earning an automatic bid, the Pioneers successful season comes to an end. The Pioneers dropped the first two sets of the day 25-6 and 25-19. The Pioneers kept it close and fought hard in the last set, before falling 25-19.

Coming into today, Alfred State has won 16 straight matches, their longest streak in program history. The Pioneers went undefeated in conference play and named four athletes to the AMCC All-Conference team. Alfred State has had more success this year than ever before, capping it off with an NCAA tournament appearance.

In today's match against the Bombers, Keturah Gregory (Laurel, MD) led the Pioneers in kills with nine. Karleigh Haines (Jamestown, NY) was right behind her with eight of her own, also tallying nine digs. Nayomie Ferrer Santiago (San Juan, PR) was the team leader in digs with 11, along with 25 assists on the match.

The Blue & Gold finished the season with a 21-7 record, received an automatic NCAA bid, and captured the AMCC conference title, all firsts in program history.
