Lady Pioneers Continue Spring Trip

The Alfred State softball team continued their spring trip to Ft. Myers, FL on Tuesday and fell 6-3 to Nichols and 9-0 to Manchester. 

In the opener vs. Nichols, the Lady Pioneers scored three runs in the 2nd to grab the early lead. Marissa Durkee (Dryden) laced a two-run double and Katie Jackson (Troy, PA) legged out an infield single to score Durkee.

Nichols chipped away at the Lady Pioneers lead with a single run in the 4th and 5th but then was able to grab the lead with four runs in the 6th.

Rebecca Hanrahan (Greene) was 2 for 3 on the day while Jackson was 2 for 4 day. Hanrahan struck out five in seven inning of work on the mound.

In the nightcap, Manchester scored three runs in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th innings to take control of the game. Kaile Niezgodski was 3 for 3 with a three-run homer to pace Nichols. The Pioneers were held to just four hits including a double by Allison Gibson (Arkport).

After a day off on Wednesday, the blue & gold return to action on Wisconsin Platteville (9 a.m.) and Brockport (11 a.m.)
