Lady Pioneers No-Hit Knox to Close Florida Slate

The Alfred State softball team finished up their spring trip to Ft. Myers, FL with a 12-0 no-hit victory over Knox after falling 3-2 in a tight contest to Wisconsin Platteville earlier in the day.

Rebecca Hanrahan (Greene) allowed just one walk in four innings while striking out three while Taylor McCarthy (Watkins Glen) walked two and struck out one as she recorded the final three outs to close the game.

The Lady Pioneers put the game out of reach early with five runs in the 1st. After scoring a single run in the 2nd, Alfred added five more in the 3rd. They capped the scoring with a run in the 5th. Alfred State was able to take advantage of nine walks by Knox.

Aubri Mosier (Rome, PA) had a big two run triple in the 1st while Allison Gibson (Arkport) had a two run single in the 3rd. 

In the opener vs. Wisconsin-Platteville, the Lady Pioneers trailed 3-1 heading into the 7th but for the second day in a row sent the winning run to the plate. Mosier made it 3-2 with one out when she lifted a double that bounced off the base of the wall to drive in Claire Hartman (Alden). Hartman doubled earlier in the inning. Keri Treml induced two flyouts to end the contest.

Mosier was the lone Pioneer with multiple hits finishing 2 for 3 with two doubles. McCarthy allowed eight hits and two earned runs in six inning of work.

The blue and gold return to action on Tuesday when they are scheduled to host Houghton at 3 p.m.
