Pioneers Drop Road Contest

The Alfred State Women's Basketball team traveled to Penn.- St. Behrend and fell 83-59. Tonight's match-up was the Pioneers last road game of the season. 

A close first quarter ended with the Pioneers down 27-21. Midway through the quarter, the score was deadlocked at 13 apiece. The score stayed close with Behrend eventually scoring a few baskets in a row to get a 6-point lead. The second quarter was all Behrend. In quarter two. Alfred State shot only 2-12 from the field and were outscored 25-6. The Pioneers found themselves down 52-27 going into halftime and couldn't mount a comeback effort. 

Some standouts for the Pioneers include:

Falyn Lewis-Ellison (Rexville, NY / Whitesville): Lewis-Ellison shot 8-11 from the field with two deep balls. Lewis-Ellison also tallied seven rebounds.

Taylor Benjamin (Newark Valley, NY / Newark Valley): Benjamin was the other Pioneer with double-digit scoring. Benjamin had 11 points and seven rebounds.

Faith McCombs (Amityville, NY / Copaigue): McCombs once again led the Pioneers in rebounds with 15. McCombs went 4-11 from the field with 8 points.

The Pioneers conclude their season at home against LaRoche at home. The game is set for Saturday, February 18 at 4 p.m. The team will be honoring their seniors prior to tip.
