Alfred State Honors Four Seniors Before Last Home Game

The Alfred State Pioneers played their final game of the season and lost to LaRoche 74-48. Before tip-off the Pioneers honored four seniors. Faith McCombs, Falyn Lewis-Ellison, Gretchen Hendrickson and Calesta Reigelman were all introduced and were thanked for their contributions to the Pioneer Women's Basketball Program. 

Alfred State fell behind early, down 20-9 with 3 minutes left in the first quarter. Through the first half, the Pioneers couldn't bring the lead to single-digits with the Redhawks shooting 14-29 from the field in the first 19 minutes of play. Falyn Lewis-Ellison made two free throws to end the half with the Pioneers down nine points 33-24. LaRoche came out firing in quarter three, extending their lead to 21 points. The Pioneers couldn't claw back, eventually falling in their last game of the season. 

Some standouts for the Pioneers include:

Taylor Benjamin: Benjamin had a team-high 15 points on 5-15 shooting. Benjamin also made her presence felt on defense, tallying 3 steals and 7 boards.

Falyn Lewis-Ellison: Lewis-Ellison was the other Pioneer in double figures. She tallied 11 points and 4 assists.

The Pioneers finished their season 5-18 and went 2-12 in AMCC competition.
