Pioneers Lead After Day One of AMCC Championships

The Alfred State women's swimming & diving team had a strong start to the 2019 AMCC Championships on Wednesday. The Pioneers led the competition after day one of the four day event.

The 800 free relay team of Jessie LaRue (Livonia), Kathryn Lewis (Niagara Wheatfield), Elizabeth Drake (Lansing), and Sarah Stevens (Wellsville) finished in 2nd with a new school record of 8:17.69. The B relay team of Alina Kisluk (Hamburg), Samantha Towner (Wayland Cohocton), Megan Hendershot (Brockport), and Kelsey Lynch (Wellsville) also scored points with an 8th place finish (8:52.84).

On the diving board, the Pioneers took the top two spots in the 3m competition. Sarah Stevens won the competition with 345.10 points while Leaha Langerman (Wayland Cohocton) was 2nd with a score of 318.70.

Alfred State sits on top with 65 points followed by Penn State Behrend (46), Penn State Altoona (20), and Franciscan (18).

Day two action begins with preliminaries at 10 a.m. followed by diving at 1 p.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
