2018-19 All-AMCC Swimming & Diving Teams Announced

All-AMCC Awards Announced

The Alfred State women's swimming & diving team is well represented in the 2018-19 All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference team. The Pioneers finished 2nd, their best finish in a AMCC Championship.

Junior Sarah Stevens (Wellsville) and freshman Jessie LaRue led the way in the postseason honors by earning a pair of 1st team accolades.

  • Stevens won both the diving competitions en route to repeating as the AMCC Diver of the Year. She won the 1m with a score of 351.75 and the 3m with a score of 345.10.
  • LaRue cut 3.10 seconds off her preliminary time and won the 200 IM in 2:14.66 and then cut 2.96 seconds off her 200 backstroke and won in 2:11.64. 

Kathryn Lewis (Niagara Wheatfield), Rebecca Stevens (Wellsville), and Kelsey Lynch (Wellsville), and Leaha Langerman (Wayland Cohocton) earned 2nd team honors in individual events while the 200 free relay, the 400 free, and 800 free relay teams also swam to 2nd team honors.

  • Lewis was 2nd in three events, the 500 free (5:23.05), the 200 free (2:01.87), and the 1650 free (18:50.08).
  • Stevens was 2nd on the 1m diving finishing with 329.05 points.
  • Lynch was 2nd in the 200 fly finishing in 2:34.78. 
  • Langerman finished 2nd in the 3m diving competition with 318.70 points
  • The 200 free relay team of LaRue, Lewis, Elizabeth Drake (Lansing), and Stevens finished 2nd in 1:45.87.
  • The 400 free relay team of LaRue, Drake, Lewis, and Megan Hendershot (Brockport) finished 2nd in 3:53.68 
  • The 800 free relay team of LaRue, Lewis, Drake, and Stevens finished in 8:17.69.

Jessica Wyckoff (Penn State Behrend) was named the Swimmer of the Year, Marcella Puglia (Penn State Behrend) was named Newcomer of the Year, and Chris Zedick (Franciscan) was named Coach of the Year.
