AJ Gartland delivers a pitch - he was named AMCC Pitcher of the Week after leading the Pioneers to a victory on opening day.

Gartland Named AMCC Pitcher of the Week

Alfred State senior left-handed pitcher AJ Gartland (Irondequoit) was named the Allegany Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Pitcher of the Week.

Gartland led the Pioneers to an opening day 9-2 win at Wells College. He tossed six innings of four-hit ball. He allowed two unearned runs while striking out ten Wells batters, finishing with the 0.00 ERA.

Junior outfielder Justin LoTemple (Greece Athena) was listed on the Best of the Rest for the AMCC Player of the Week after hitting .500 with a homer and three RBI. Jace Cappellini (Pitt-Greensburg) was named the AMCC Player of the Week.

The blue & gold are slated to be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to St. John Fisher. They also have doubleheaders at Houghton (Saturday) and at Cortland (Sunday) on the schedule.
