Matteo Avallone, Chris Baldwin, and Tim Holler named All-AMCC

Avallone, Baldwin, and Holler Earn All-AMCC Honors

The Alfred State baseball trio of Matteo Avallone (Mahopac/Bridgton Academy), Chris Baldwin (Patchogue/Patchogue-Medford) and Tim Holler (Brewster) have earned All-AMCC honors. Avallone was a 2nd team honoree while Baldwin and Holler were each named to the 3rd team.

Avallone led the Pioneers with a .411 batting average (62 of 151) with 17 doubles, one triple, and 9 home runs. He led the team with 39 RBI and scored 33 times. He finished the season with a .715 slugging percentage and a .491 on-base percentage. Avallone collected at least one hit in 36 of the Pioneers 41 games. He had 20 multi-hit games and nine games with more than 2 RBI.

In AMCC play, Avallone hit .456 (26 for 57) with eight doubles, four home runs, and 21 RBI. He was tied for the AMCC lead with nine homers and was 2nd in the league with 39 RBI and a .411 batting average.

Baldwin pitched in 22 games this spring. He was 1-2 with a 4.17 ERA. In total he pitched 36.2 innings and allowed 28 hits and nine walks while striking out 22. He held opponents to just a .204 average. Baldwin appeared in seven AMCC games and was 1-1 in 12.1 innings of work. He allowed 11 hits walked only one and struck out six. He had a 3.65 ERA in conference action. His 22 appearances was the most in the AMCC.

After returning from an early season injury, Holler appeared in 31 games and hit .323 (31 for 96). He collected four doubles, four triples, and hit three home runs. He drove in 17 RBI, scored 27 times, and was 15 for 17 on the basepaths. In AMCC play, Holler hit .412 (14 for 34) with a double, three triples, a homer and 7 RBI. He was was 2nd in the AMCC in stolen bases and triples and was 32nd in batting average.

Alfred State finished the season with an 18-23 overall record. They won their quarterfinal series and advacned to the AMCC semifinals for the first time in program history.
