Avallone Named D3Baseball.com All New York Region

Alfred State first basemen Matteo Avallone (Mahopac/Bridgton Academy) has been selected as a D3Baseball.com All New York Region 2nd team member. Avallone had a monster second season for the Pioneers.

Avallone led the Pioneers with a .411 batting average (62 of 151) with 17 doubles, one triple, and 9 home runs. He led the team with 39 RBI and scored 33 times. He finished the season with a .715 slugging percentage and a .491 on-base percentage. Avallone collected at least one hit in 36 of the Pioneers 41 games. He had 20 multi-hit games (four games with three or more hits) and nine games with more than 2 RBI.

In the AMCC postseason, Avallone was 10 for 22 with five doubles, a homer, and 4 RBI. He was 7 for 14 in the three-game quarterfinal series vs. Penn State Altoona and was 3 for 8 in the series at LaRoche.

During his two years at Alfred State (59 games), he is 87 for 219 (.397 batting average) with 23 doubles, two triples, 14 home runs, and 66 RBI. The 14 home runs is already a new school record.

Earlier, Avallone was a 2nd team All-AMCC selection.

Alfred State finished the 2021 season with an 18-23 overall record and advanced to the AMCC semifinals for the first time in program history.
