Fourteen 3's Lift Barons Over Pioneers

Franciscan connected on fourteen 3-pointers as they held on to 64-59 victory over Alfred State on Sunday afternoon. The Barons finished the day 14 for 30 from beyond the three-point arc.

Franciscan connected on nine 3-pointers in the 1st half and built a 33-25 lead at the break. They expanded their lead to 15, 48-33, with just over 12 minutes left before the Pioneers started to make a comeback. The blue & gold cut the lead to three multiple times in the final four minutes but couldn't get any closer.

The trio of Moses Sullivan, Jacob Divens, and Jonas McCraig led the Barons offense. Sullivan led with 19 points, including 8 for 11 from the foul line. Diven hit four three-pointers and had 18 points and seven assists. McCraig came off the bench and was 5 for 8 from three and finished with 15.

Jabar Williams (Brooklyn/Abraham Lincoln) led the Pioneers with 13 points. Tommy Hutson (Brooklyn/Susan McKinney) and Adam Fezza (Southhampton) added nine points each while Rob Adams (Jasper Troupsburg) came off the bench and chipped in seven.

Franciscan shot 45.2% (19 for 42) from the field, 46.7% (14 for 30) from three, and 60% (12 for 20) from the line while Alfred State shot 39.6% (21 for 53), 22.2% (4 for 18) from three, and 76.5% (13 for 17) from the line. The Pioneers held a slight 33 to 30 rebounding advantage.

The Pioneers are back at it on Monday when they host Wells in the second half of a doubleheader with tipoff slated at 7:30 p.m. The women's contest begins at 5:30 p.m.
