Wildcats Rally with Strong 2nd Half

Alfred State played a solid 1st half, holding a 18-point lead, but Penn College rallied and outscored the Pioneers 46-27 in the 2nd half en route to a 73-63 victory.

The Pioneers went on a 19 to 1 run in the 1st half to break a 5-5 tie. Penn College cut the lead to nine, 36-27, by halftime and then went on a 10-0 run to take a lead early in the 2nd half. Minutes later, the Wildcats went on a 9-0 run and never looked back.

Justin Wallace (Mount Vernon) led the Pioneers with 15 points (12 in the 1st half) while Adam Fezza (Southhampton) finished with 14 (9 in the 1st half). Tommy Hutson (Brooklyn/Susan McKinney) chipped in 13 and Tyler Elliott (Perry) chipped in seven.

The Pioneers shot 43.3% and connected on five of 11 three-pointers in the 1st half but shot just 33.3% in the 2nd and turned the ball over 13 times.

Thomas Ross led Penn College with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Bryce Lonsway had 14, Kevin Lawrence-El had 13, and Joseph Mangiero added 13 off the bench. The Wildcats shot 41.2% from the field in the 2nd half and connected on 4 of 10 three-point attempts.

The Pioneers have some time off before heading to Houghton on December 13th to battle the Highlanders.
