Trio of Pioneers Score in Double Figures

Tommy Hutson (Brooklyn/Susan McKinney), Tyler Elliott (Perry) and Adam Fezza (Southhampton) all scored in double figures but Alfred State couldn't overcome a slow start and fell 81-73 to Finlandia (MI) University. 

The Lions jumped out to a 37-21 lead at halftime and led by as many as 23 before making a furious comeback. The comeback brought the Pioneers within 76-71 with just over a minute left but Finlandia hit 5 of 8 foul shots down the stretch to seal the win.

Hutson led the Pioneers with 15 points and five rebounds. Elliott added 11 points and Fezza chipped in 10. The Pioneers shot a blistering 52.8% from the field in the 2nd half after shooting just 33.3% in the 1st.

Eric Lori connected on five 3-pointers and led all scorers with 23 points. Jordan LaPlant added 15, Brandon Robinette had 13, Marcus Geralds 11, and Tyler Koski chipped in 10. The Lions shot 40.7% from the field for the day and connected on 9 of 21 three-point attempts.

The Pioneers are next in action on Thursday when they host St. Mary's (MD) College at 5 p.m.
