Defense Keys Victory over Davis

The Alfred State men's basketball team used a solid defensive effort to key a 68-55 victory over Davis on Saturday afternoon. The win, the Pioneers third straight, improves the Pioneers to 5-13 on the season.

Davis (9-7) came into the contest averaging nearly 80 points per game (78.6) and the Pioneers held the Falcons to just 24 in the 2nd half as they were able to expand on a 34-31 halftime lead.

Justin Wallace (Mt. St. Michael) led the blue & gold with 18 points. Charles Ingram (Harlem/Seward Park) finished with 11 (6 for 6 from the foul line), Tyler Elliott (Perry) added 11, and Adam Fezza (Southhampton) chipped in 9.

The win was the 200th of Jerry Jusianiec's career at Alfred State. He is in his 16th season at the helm of the program and became the all-time leader of wins in program history on Friday evening.

Alfred State is back in action on Thursday when they host Hamilton at 7:30 p.m.
