Houghton Holds on to Down Pioneers

Alfred State outscored Houghton 35-33 in the 2nd half but could not overcome a 13-point halftime deficit in a 80-69 Highlander victory on Saturday. The Highlanders improve to 4-3 on the year.

Jonathan Stowe led all scorers with 30 points and nine rebounds. He was 10 for 14 from the field, 3 for 3 from beyond the three point arc, and 7 for 7 from the foul line. Tyler McQuaid added 19 points for the Highlanders.

Adam Fezza (Southhampton) led three Pioneers in double-figures. He scored 24 on 8 for 12 shooting from the floor. Tommy Hutson (Brooklyn/Susan McKinney) added 17 and Robbie Adams (Jasper Troupsburg) chipped in 15.

The Pioneers wrap up the 2014 portion of their season on Sunday when they host SUNY ESF. Opening tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
