Big Run Lifts Nazareth

Nazareth used a big run to end the 1st half as they defeated Alfred State 69-54 on Wednesday evening. The Flyers (4-0) went on a 28 to 8 run in the last 8:18 of the 1st half as they erased a 15-12 deficit.

The Pioneers grabbed the lead with a 5 to 2 run with just under 10 minutes remaining in the first half to grab the 15-12 lead. Cody Green then sparked the Flyers run by connecting on three 3-pointers. During the run, Nazareth hit four of their five 3-point attempts and finished the half shooting 64% from the floor. The Pioneers outscored the Flyers 31-29 in the 2nd half but were unable to get any closer than 14.

Marquis Edwards (Bronx/In-Tech Academy) led the Pioneers with 17 points while Tyler Elliott (Perry) had 12 points and six boards. Matt Tebbe (Marathon) chipped in eight points off the bench. Alfred State shot 43.1% from the field and struggled from three (1 of 11) and from the foul line (3 of 9).

Tyler Stenglein led the Flyers with 22 points and seven boards while Green was 5 for 6 from three on the day and finished with 17 off the bench. Nazareth shot 54.3% from the field and hit 8 of their 14 three-point attempts.

The blue & gold end their homestand on Saturday when they host SUNY ESF at 1 p.m.
