Strong Second Half Propels Pioneers Past Soaring Eagles

Alfred, NY- The Alfred State Men's Basketball team put in an all-around game to get the win over Elmira, 82-68. The Pioneers advanced to 2-3 on the year.

Four Pioneers scored in double figures, with Dylan Perry leading the way with 20 points. Paris Jamison had another good game as he put in 16 points, eight rebounds, and four steals. Cody Schneider notched another double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Zy Switzer knocked down three three-pointers on his way to 11 points.

After a tightly contested first half, Alfred State outscored Elmira 48-34 in the second half. The Soaring Eagles jumped out to a 43-35 lead before Perry hit a three to gain the momentum. Following the three Ryan Rosa made back-to-back layups. Then Perry and Switzer hit back-to-back threes to extend their lead to 48-43. After Elmira tied the game at 48-48, Emmanuel Leftenant knocked down a three to start a 10-2 run. After a Jack Dignan timeout, Switzer splashed in another three and Schneider added a free throw line jumper for the 63-55 lead. From there the Pioneers kept adding to their lead to secure the win.
