Pioneers Can’t Overcome Slow Start, Fall to RedHawks

Alfred, NY – The Alfred State Men's Basketball team fell to conference opponent La Roche 85-69. Three Pioneers scored in double figures as they fell to 8-9 overall and 6-4 in conference play.

 

Paris Jamison led the way for the Pioneers, scoring 24 points and recording five steals. Cody Schneider scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Michael Miller added 12 points.  

 

Schneider got the scoring started for the Pioneers with a layup early in the contest but a strong start from the RedHawks allowed them to jump out to a 17-3 lead. Later in the half Jamison made a layup to cut the lead down to 25-18. Austin Brown made a three pointer at the first half buzzer for the Pioneers, but they still trailed 46-33 at the half.

 

La Roche opened the second half on a 12-3 run, extending their lead. A dunk by Schneider with a little over 5 minutes to play capped off a 9-2 scoring run by the Pioneers and made the score 70-56. Some timely baskets by La Roche helped them hold their lead and claim the victory.
