Road Win Completes Season Sweep Over Mounties

Cresson, PA - The Alfred State men's basketball team extends their win streak to four with a 82-64 victory over Mt. Aloysius. The Pioneers improve to 13-10 overall and 11-5 in conference play.

Dylan Perry led the way for the Pioneers with 25 points and six rebounds. Ryan Rosa added 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Michael Miller recorded a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds and Cody Schneider was two assist short of a triple double with 11 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists.

The Pioneers jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the opening minutes of this game but Mt. Aloysius countered with a 6-0 run of their own. Alfred State responded with a 10-0 run to take a 16-6 lead with 13:08 remaining in the first half. A three pointer from Schneider sustained the lead for the Pioneers, 30-20, with 5:37 remaining. A few possessions later Perry hit a three-pointer to put the Pioneers up 11 with 4:11 remaining. The half closed with Perry hitting a mid-range jumper and Alfred State led 41-32 at halftime.

The Mounties started the seconds half connecting on a three-pointer. The Pioneers responded with a three-pointer of their own from Perry. Perry finished 5-of-9 from downtown. Miller found Rosa for a layup and then on the next possession Rosa returned the favor hitting Miller for a three-pointer. The Pioneers led 58-42 with 14:54 remaining in the game. Alfred State led by as much as 18 in this game, 69-51, after Rosa connected from behind the arc. The Pioneers halted any Mountie run and they came out with a 82-64 victory. Alfred State sweeps the season series 2-0 against Mt. Aloysius.

The Pioneers return to the floor on Wednesday, February 14th as they host the Lions of Penn St.-Behrend.
