Seniors Lead The Way On Senior Day

Alfred, NY - The Alfred State men's basketball team defeated Carlow University, 81-66 on Senior Day. The Pioneers honored four seniors Paris Jamison, Ryan Rosa, Ben Reding and Cody Schneider. The Pioneers are 14-11 overall and 12-6 in conference play. 

The seniors led the way for the Pioneers highlighted by 22 points from Paris Jamison. Ryan Rosa pitched in 15 points and six rebounds; Ben Reding scored a career-high 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting from downtown and Cody Schneider added eight points and a career high 11 assists. 

Rosa got the day started for Alfred State with a contested layup. On the next possession Reding connected on a shot from behind the arc. A few possessions later, Schneider blocked a dunk attempt which led to another three-pointer for Reding. On the very next possession, Jamison found Reding for yet another shot from downtown. The Pioneers got out to an early 13-2 lead with 17:09 left in the first half. Alfred State led by as many as 17 points, 25-8, following a wing three-pointer from Rosa. A 9-0 run from Carlow brought them within 8 with 9:06 remaining. Alfred State went back up by 11, 29-18, after a baseline drive and layup by Jacob Gonzalez. A few minutes later Gonzalez found Schneider down low for a dunk. Gonzalez closed the half for the Pioneers with a layup in the final seconds and Alfred State took a 44-34 lead headed into halftime. 

To begin the second half, Schneider found Rosa in the corner for a three-pointer, for one of his 11 assists. A few minutes later Rosa found a slashing Jamison for a drop-off layup. The Pioneers recorded 25 assists in this game. With 11:47 left in the second half, Jamison converted on an and-one to put them up 16, 58-42. The Celtics converted on an and-one of their own to cut the lead to seven, 65-58 with 4:57 left in the game. Alfred State ended the game on a 16-7 run, and they defeated Carlow 81-66. The Pioneers sweep the season series against the Celtics 2-0.  

The No.3 Pioneers return to the floor for the first round of the AMCC Tournament on Tuesday, February 20th as they host No.6 Penn St. Altoona. The Pioneers split the season series against Altoona 1-1.
