Jackson Collects Three Hits as Lady Pioneers open up 2016 season

Katie Jackson (Troy, PA) collected three hits as the Alfred State softball team opened up the 2016 season at the Gene Cusic Classic in Ft. Myers, FL. The Lady Pioneers fell 10-1 to Drew (NJ) and 11-2 to Marian (WI).
Drew scored six runs in the 1st inning and never looked back. Jackson led the Pioneers with a 2 for 3 day while Lura O'Keefe (Allegany Limestone) drove home the lone run for Alfred State with a two-out single in the 3rd.
In the second game of the afternoon, Marian scored six in the 1st and two more in the 2nd to take control. The Lady Pioneers scored both of their runs in the 4th on a two-run double by Stormi Kruger (Medina).
Jackson collected another hit in game two and finished the day 3 for 6.
The Lady Pioneers are back on the diamond on Friday when they battle Wheelock (MA) at 9 a.m. and Rockford (IL) as they continue play in Florida.
