Hierlwimmer Collects Five Hits vs. Framingham

Ryan Hierlwimmer (Livonia) collected five hits as Alfred State dropped a doubleheader to Framingham (MA) State, 4-2 & 13-2, on Sunday at the RussMatt Tournament.  Hierlwimmer was 5 for 7 on the day.

In the opener, the Pioneers led 2-0 heading into the 6th inning before the Rams scored four runs keyed by a two out bases clearing double by Matthew Roberge to grab the lead.  The Pioneers had grabbed the lead in the top of the 5th on a two run double by Matthew Nawrot (Clarence).

Ryan Hedges (Arkport) was the tough luck loser for the Pioneers.  He allowed eight hits in six innings of work while walking two and striking out four.

In the nightcap the Rams collected 12 hits and 13 walks en route to the big victory.  Hierlwimmer had a big game for the Pioneers finishing 4 for 4 with 2 RBI.  Jordan Wheaton (Wayland Cohocton) was 2 for 4.

Ivan Colon was 4 for 5 with 3 RBI while Jake Wardwell was 2 for 5 with 3 RBI for Framingham.

The blue & gold return to action at 8:30 a.m. on Monday when they battle Keene State in a single nine inning game.
