Wheaton Honored by the USCAA

Alfred State junior Jordan Wheaton (Wayland Cohocton) has been named the USCAA player of the week.  Wheaton is the first Pioneer baseball player to earn an USCAA honor.

Wheaton went 11 for 20 for a .550 batting average that drove in 10 RBIs on the week for the Pionners.  Of those 11 hits, five of them were for extra base hits.  To go along with his extra base hits, he stole four bases.

Wheaton, who is currently hitting .398 with 14 doubles, four triples, and 24 RBI, and the Pioneers are slated for five games this coming week. They battle Houghton on Thursday in a single 9-inning contest before starting a four-game series Friday with SUNY Canton.

Corey Mongiat from Southern Maine CC was named the USCAA pitcher of the week.
