The Alfred State women's basketball team shot just 22% and fell to 89-38 at Medaille on Tuesday evening as they opened up their 2013-14 campaign.
Briana Meehan (Whitesville) led the Lady Pioneers with 12 points while Marcedes Caver (Cleveland, OH) chipped in 10. Alfred State was 16 for 72 from the field on the day.
Medaille was led by Morgan Howe's 17 points. Alisia Montalvo and Joelle Pollack each finished with 16. The Mavericks shot 45.9% from the field and held a 63 to 38 rebounding advantage.
The Lady Pioneers are right back in action on Thursday when they travel to Williamsport, PA for a 6 p.m. contest at Penn College.
