Lady Pioneers Win 16th

The Alfred State women's basketball team recorded their 16th victory of the season with a hard fought 71-68 victory over Niagara CCC. The Lady Pioneers, ranked #5 in the USCAA, improve to 16-6 on the year while NCCC is now 20-5.

Haley Witchella (Oxford) led the Lady Pioneers with 22 points and 22 rebounds. Briana Meehan (Whitesville) and Destiny Brito (Manhattan/Park West) each chipped in 11 points. Kim Levee (Dansville) came off the bench and chipped in nine.

The Lady Pioneers trailed 32-30 at the break but shot 48.5% in the 2nd half and outscored the Thunderwolves 41-36 to earn the victory. The Lady Pioneers held a 55 to 45 advantage on the boards.

Tanisha Moyer led the NCCC with 20 points while Jesse DeWaters finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

The contest finished the busiest stretch of the season for the Lady Pioneers. The contest was the third in four days and the fifth in the last eight days.

Alfred State plays their final home game of the 2014-15 season on Sunday when they battle SUNY Canton at Noon.
