Today is Alfred State's 3rd Annual Day of Giving! The college hopes to crush the goals of $150,000 and 700 donors as we raise funds for scholarships, technology, athletics, and new program development.
When asked to give to any cause the first question is normally, WHY? As a member of the athletic department for over 17 years the only answer is the STUDENTS, more specifically for me the STUDENT-ATHLETES. In my role at the college I get to interact with our current Pioneers daily and see them grow from young men and women to adults heading into the workforce.
During my time working in the athletic department I have seen so many great success stories by the Student-Athletes. I will try to highlight just a few from the last year or so.
- The completion of the transition to becoming full NCAA Division III members including the announcement of full membership into the AMCC and the reveal of a brand new athletic logo and mascot.
- Having student-athletes from our cross country team become the first Pioneer athletes to compete at a NCAA Championship event - the 2018 NCAA Mideast Regionals.
- Our student-athletes supporting other causes like the Allegany County Cancer Services, the Community Blood Bank, the Wounded Warrior Project, and Special Olympics.
- Watching student-athletes walk across the stage at graduation and learning of their continued success as professionals in their chosen field.
