Women's Track & Field Impresses at Brockport

The Alfred State women's track & field team was impressive on Sunday at the Brockport Invitational. The team registered nine top-3 finishes on the day.

Alyssa Delany (Hornell), Madeline Cole (Homer) and Sarah Rivet (Waterford/Shenendehowa) won individual titles. Delany won the 100 hurdles in 16.70, Cole won the 100 m dash (13.88), and Rivet won the 400 hurdles in 1:12.32. The 4x400 relay team of Katherine O'Buckley (Queens/Francis Lewis), Isabelle Popoff (Cicero North Syracuse), Rivet, and My'ana Davis (Greece Athena) also won in 4:39.66.

Katie Watkins (Addison) was 2nd in the steeplechase (13:48.56), Davis was 2nd in the 400 (1:04.60) and the 4x100 relay team of Delany, Marina Miketish (Olean), Laura Walter (Lancaster), and Davis finished 2nd (52.82).

Laura Ferris (Victor/Mercy) was 3rd in the 1500 (5:37.90), O'Buckley was 3rd in the 400 hurdles (1:14.38), and Chivonna Reed (Fairport) was 3rd in the high jump (1.42 m).

Watkins was 4th in the 5000 (22:41.57), Reed was 4th in the long jump (4.81 m), and Lily Schnell (Olean) was 4th in the triple jump (9.35 m).

Emma Taggart (New Windsor, MD) sits in 3rd while Miketish is in 4th after day one of the heptathlon. Taggart scored 2,334 points in the first four events. She scored a high of 671 points in the 100 hurdles (16.36) and 598 points in the 200 (28.42). Miketish has 2,193 points with 632 coming in the high jump (1.51 m) and 619 points in the 100 hurdles (16.80). Taggart and Miketish will finish the final three events tomorrow afternoon.

The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday when they head to St. John Fisher.
