Emma Taggart and Marina Miketish have been named All-Region by the USTFCCCA

Taggart and Miketish Earn All-Region Honors to Highlight to Track & Field Honors

Emma Taggart (New Windsor, MD) and Marina Miketish (Olean) both earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Mideast Region honors recently. These recognitions highlight a successful 2021 outdoor season for Alfred State.

Taggart was named All-Region in a pair of events. She was tied for 3rd in the Mideast in the high jump when she broke the school record with a leap of 1.60 m in the Alfred State Early Season Invitational and she was 4th in the region with her ASC record breaking score of 4,013 points in the heptathlon from the AARTFC Championships.

This comes after Taggart accumulated multiple awards at the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championships (CSAC). At that meet, Taggart was named the CSAC Field Athlete of the Meet and Year after earning All-Conference honors in five events. She earned 1st team honors in the 100 hurdles, the long jump, and the discus. She earned 2nd team honors in the high jump and honorable mention honors in the shot put.

Miketish was named All-Region in the heptathlon as well. She accumulated the 5th most points in the event in the region when she scored 3,839 at the AARTFC Championships. Prior to being named All-Region, Miketish was named All-CSAC in five events. She was 1st team in the 4x100 and 4x400, 2nd team in the 200, and honorable mention in the 100 hurdles and high jump.

The following student-athletes earned All-CSAC honors:

  • My'ana Davis (Rochester/Greece Athena) earned 1st team honors in the 200, 400, the 4x100, and 4x400
  • Sarah Rivet (Waterford/Shenendehowa) earned 1st team honors in the 400 hurdles and the 4x400. She was honorable mention in the shot put and was named the ASC representative on the CSAC Sportsmanship Team.
  • Katie Watkins (Addison) earned 1st team honors in the steeplechase and honorable mention honors in the 5,000.
  • Alyssa Delany (Hornell) earned 1st team honors in the triple jump and the 4x100, 2nd team honors in the 100 hurdles, and honorable mention honors in the long jump.
  • Katherine O'Buckley (Queens/Francis Lewis) earned 1st team honors in the 4x400 and 2nd team honors in the 400 hurdles.
  • Chivonna Reed (Fairport) earned 1st team honors in the 4x100, 2nd team honors in the long jump, and honorable mention honors in the 100.
  • Madeline Cole (Homer) earned 2nd team honors in the 100.
  • Isabelle Popoff (Cicero North Syracuse) earned 2nd team honors in the 400.
  • Annaliese Hersom (Byron Bergen) earned 2nd team honors in the 10,000.
  • Laura Ferris (Victor/Mercy) earned honorable mention honors in the 800.
  • Lily Schnell (Olean) earned honorable mention honors in the triple jump.

Alfred State won the CSAC Championship and then went on to finish 17th out of 34 teams that competed at the AARTFC Championships.
