Pioneers Fall in Back and Forth Affair.

Pioneers Fall in Back and Forth Affair.

Alfred State and Medaille battled back and forth in a spring break contest on Sunday morning. The game featured five lead changes with the Mavericks coming out on top 10-8.

The Pioneers came out of the gate early taking an early 2-0 lead in the 1st. The Mavericks followed up with two runs of their own in the bottom half. The game then went back and forth as Alfred State scored one in the 3rd only to see Medaille answer with two more runs in their half. The blue and gold regained the lead in the 4th but the lead was short lived as the Mavs came back with one of their own in the bottom of the 4th and then took the lead for good with a single run in the 5th and three more in the 7th. Alfred scored three runs in 8th inning and had the bases loaded but couldn't plate the tying run. Medaille added an insurance run in the 8th and kept the Pioneer off the board in the 9th to seal the victory.

The Pioneers swung the bat well again in the game as they tallied thirteen hits. The offense was led by Nicholas Padley (Sweet Home) as he went 3-4 at the plate with 3 RBI. Dylan Lewis-Ellison (Whitesville), David Zuber (Honeoye Falls), and Chris Borden (Scotia-Glenville) each added two hits each for the Pioneers.

Alfred State picks up action again tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. when they take on Sewanee @ Chain of Lakes Park Stadium in Winter Haven, Fla.
