Pioneers drop two to Hamilton

The Alfred State baseball team lost a pair of games Thursday, 8-2 and 9-1, to Hamilton in a match-up of NY schools.  afternoon to Hamilton.

in the opener the Pioneers surrendered four runs in the top half of the 1st inning and the Continentals never looked back after that. Adding one run in the 3rd, two runs in the 4th, and a final run in the 7th.

Hamilton was lead offensivley by Joe Jensen who went 3-5 at the plate with two runs scored. Chris Collins contributed three hits as well and a RBI.

The Pioneers were led offensively by Nicholas Padley (Sweet Home) and Cullen Franz (Cazenovia) who both went 2-3. Franz tripled down the right field line in the 4th inning scoring Jordan Wheaton (Wayland-Cohocton). Ryan Hierlwimmer (Livonia) singled in the bottom of the 6th to score Franz. 

In the nightcap, Hamilton broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the 3rd inning as they plated two runs. The Pioneers answered back with their lone run of the game in the top half of the 4th inning when Jordyn Confer (Tioga, PA) singled  to right center field scoring Padley.

Hamilton broke the game open in the top of the 5th inning as they scored six runs. Collins had a bases clearing triple to collect three RBI. Hamilton added one more run in the bottom of the 6th to make it a totl of 9 for the game.

The Pioneers will back in action on Friday (3/20) when they wrap up the Florida portion of their spring break trip when they take on St. Michaels in a DH @ Warner University.  The first game tomorrow is slated for 1 p.m.
