Improvements Made to Swimming Pool

In the past year, numerous improvements have been made to the Alfred State swimming pool. These improvements were on display last Friday night when the Pioneers opened up the home portion of their season vs. Oswego in front of a large crowd.

A new timing system and scoreboard were installed last spring after the conclusion of the season. The timing system feeds information directly to the scoreboard allowing swimmers and spectators instant feedback on the race. The scoreboard also has the capability to play videos and movies.

The pool also features new lighting and a fresh coat of paint on the walls and bleachers. These improvements have made the facility much brighter. Electrical work, tile work, and sound tile work has also been done in the facility.

Second year head coach RC Weston is excited about the improvements. "These improvements helped modernize our facility and will help the continuing efforts to build the Alfred State swimming program. The changes are very noticeable and we those whom have seen the improvements share our excitement for not only this year's team but future Pioneer swimmers."

The college has plans to add a record board in the near future as well.
